Is there a free trial for GPT-5.5 Instant?

No trial is needed. GPT-5.5 Instant is the default ChatGPT model for free tier users, with no sign-up, activation, or upgrade required. It went live globally on May 5, 2026.

What are the best pricing options for GPT-5.5 Instant?

Free tier offers GPT-5.5 Instant at no cost. Plus ($20/month) adds enhanced personalization, Memory Sources, and Gmail integration on web. Pro ($200/month) adds GPT-5.5 Thinking and Pro for heavier reasoning tasks. Business and Enterprise plans include GPT-5.5 Instant as the default with personalization features rolling out in the coming weeks. API access is available under the alias "chat-latest" or the versioned snapshot gpt-5.5-2026-04-23.

What platforms offer GPT-5.5 Instant access?

The primary platform is ChatGPT (web, mobile, and desktop apps) across Free, Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers. Direct API access is available through the OpenAI API. Third-party providers including OpenRouter, Kie.ai, AI.cc, SunTec.ai, and ibl.ai also resell or integrate GPT-5.5 Instant for developers who want unified access across multiple model providers.

How do I integrate GPT-5.5 Instant via API?

GPT-5.5 Instant is available in the OpenAI API under the alias "chat-latest." For production workflows, use the versioned snapshot (gpt-5.5-2026-04-23) rather than the rolling alias, since "chat-latest" updates automatically when OpenAI ships a new default model and can break prompt calibration without warning. GPT-5.3 Instant remains available to paid API users for three months before retirement.

How does GPT-5.5 Instant score on benchmarks?

GPT-5.5 Instant scores 81.2% on AIME 2025 (competition math), 85.6% on GPQA (PhD-level science), 76.0% on MMMU-Pro (multimodal reasoning), and 81.6% on CharXiv-Reasoning (scientific chart reasoning). On OmniDocBench, document parsing error rate dropped from 14.6% to 12.0%. All figures are improvements over GPT-5.3 Instant.

What is the difference between GPT-5.5 Instant and GPT-5.3 Instant?

GPT-5.5 Instant produces 52.5% fewer hallucinated claims on high-stakes prompts and 37.3% fewer inaccurate claims on conversations previously flagged for errors. Responses are 30.2% shorter by word count and 29.2% fewer lines. The model also adds real-time self-correction and improved image analysis. GPT-5.3 Instant remains available to paid users for three months before being retired.

How do I set up GPT-5.5 Instant for customer support?

Connect to the OpenAI API using the "chat-latest" alias and route customer support queries through the model. The reduced hallucination rate and shorter responses are directly relevant for support use cases, where accuracy and brevity reduce resolution time. Teams using Custom GPTs or prompt workflows calibrated to GPT-5.3 Instant behavior should re-test outputs before switching, since response style and length have changed materially.

Is there a GPT-5.5 Instant system card?

Yes. OpenAI publishes a system card for GPT-5.5 Instant covering training data, evaluation methodology, safety testing, and known limitations. It is available on OpenAI's website alongside the model release notes.
